The Board of the Abergavenny Food Festival has just appointed its second Chief Executive. Heather Myers will be taking over from the outgoing post-holder Kim Waters from January 2013.
An experienced strategic manager, Heather has worked for Torfaen County Borough Council heading up teams responsible for urban regeneration, policy and engagement. More recently she founded her own consultancy to work with small businesses and charitable organisations, including one of the largest youth charities in the UK. Heather lives in the Newport area with her young family and has been a regular and enthusiastic festival-goer for many years.
“I am delighted to become the new Chief Executive of the Abergavenny Food Festival – now one of the top events of its kind in the country. Kim has done a great job over the past four years. He’s a tough act to follow. The event has thrived thanks to so many people – the core festival team, board, funders, sponsors and volunteers. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution; to help shape the next chapter in the story that is all about artisan producers – both in Wales and further afield. I will also build on the good work already done by the Festival team in promoting the year-round food offering of Abergavenny and the wider region to visitors from the UK and abroad.”
Heather looks forward to meeting producers and organisers at the Festival’s Christmas Food and Drink Fair on Sunday 9 December.
